The foundations of Avalon’s editorial content are the still image collections represented by agencies acquired by Charles Taylor over 18 years. The collections are all of high quality and total some 24 million digital images dating from the earliest days of photography. In addition to the digital images, the collections also comprise several million analogue images. Between the collections, there are over 6,500 individual contributors. Avalon has headquarters in London and sales offices in the US and Germany.
Unlike many archives which are static and set in time, the Avalon Archive is continually expanding with additional content, some of which has never been seen before. Not everything is digitized, but with access to some of the most exciting hidden archives from around the world, there are few subjects that cannot be sourced. There are approximately 250,000 images online, and new images are added on a daily basis. Retna Pictures is an established agency with an international reputation for high quality Music and Celebrity photography.
